H-1B Visa - Example

In order to qualify for an H-1B visa, a prospective employee would need

• An advanced degree
• Some indication of their specialization
• A particular type of knowledge

Specific qualifications vary from field to field. For a fabricator salesperson, it might be a machinist degree with a resume and references showing that he had extensive experience with that company's particular brand of fabricator. For a physicist, application materials may include a copy of the dissertation, references from colleagues, and copies of articles from scientific journals.

H-2B Visa- Example

H-2B visas are awarded to employees who are temporary workers. Usually, the need is seasonal, cyclical, or a one time occurrence. An H-2B applicant does not need a specialty. Instead, a prospective employee goes through a lengthy labor certification process. Sometimes, it is possible to file a blanket petition for several employees.
