Paul Grossman, who has been practicing law since 1972, established the law corporation in 1981 as a boutique law firm dedicated to providing clients only the highest quality legal representation.

The Firm provides legal services primarily in the fields of (1) Immigration; (2) Personal Injury; and (3) Criminal Law. The Firm has attorneys that are members of both the California and New York bars. Before 9/11, there was only one immigration agency--the INS. After 9/11, the US government completely overhauled the immigration authorities. The INS is no more. Now, we have the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP). Each agency is now part of the Department of Homeland Security. ICE is responsible for enforcement of immigration laws within the United States. CPB is responsible for immigration at the border. The USCIS is responsible for the former INS service functions, including the adjudication of immigrant visa petitions and applications (adjustments of status), naturalization petitions, asylum and refugee applications, and family and employment-based petitions, and all other adjudication functions previously performed by the INS district offices and Service Centers.

Consultados and Notarios vs. Lawyers

In California, you will find many people who call themselves "notarios," "consultados" or "consultants." They claim that they can help you with immigration matters. Their rates may be cheaper than that for a lawyer. However, the price that you pay for retaining a consultado may be far higher than it appears at first. Consultados are NOT lawyers. They are not licensed to practice law. They do not always know the immigration consequences of certain actions and they cannot represent clients in immigration court. We have witnessed countless instances where they actually encourage their clients to file bogus papers, which has resulted in an aliens deportation.

We believe that nothing is more tragic than witnessing the deportation of someone who would have otherwise qualified for a green card, asylum, or US citizenship.
